Line up pieces on a file, rank or diagonal. Check how captures change which piece attacks or defends the target.

5 lessons, each followed by its own puzzle drill, then 10 themed puzzle packs.

• Build a Battery — Line up two pieces to support the same attack.
• Breakthrough — Calculate the full exchange on the defended target.
• The Mating Battery — Coordinate the pieces for a mating attack.
• The X-Ray Attack — Look through the front piece to the target behind it.
• X-Ray Defense — Keep a defending piece behind the attacked piece.
