Convert an Extra Piece: an endgame course

Keep the extra piece useful and protected. Trade when it reduces threats or leads to an easier winning ending.

5 lessons, each followed by its own puzzle drill, then 10 themed puzzle packs.

• Trade Pieces, Not Pawns — Choose exchanges that preserve the extra piece and useful pawns.
• Coordinate the King and Piece — Coordinate the king and extra piece against a target.
• Build a Passer — Use the extra piece to help create a passed pawn.
• Promote — Support promotion before choosing the final exchange.
• Avoid Drawing Traps — Check stalemate and insufficient mating material before capturing.
