Denying squares
Deny the opponent's best square. Cover it with a pawn before their piece arrives, even when no threat is live yet. The knight never gets to settle in.
Remember
- • Identify the opponent's strongest potential outpost.
- • Cover the square with a pawn move before the enemy piece gets there.
- • Pawns are great square-deniers: they don't move easily.
- • Even a single prophylactic move can dismantle the opponent's entire plan.
