Every move, scan: is any of their pieces undefended? If you can attack it in one move, the material is yours. Below 1400 this is the single biggest source of rating gain.
Remember
• After every opponent move, check every one of their pieces: which has no defender?
• If you can attack an undefended piece in one move, do it.
• Don't just scan your own side: their pieces are where the points live.
